Otto Sauter & Ten of the Best

Vita deutsch

Seit vielen Jahren geht „Ten of the Best“ regelmäßig erfolgreich auf Tour in Japan, USA, Kanada, Mexiko und Europa.

Vita english

In 1991, Otto Sauter, the world‘s leading soloist on the piccolo-trumpet, had the idea of putting together the ensemble „Ten of the Best“ with ten of the best trumpet players in the world, like the principal trumpet of the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Stockholm Opera, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Prague as well as international renowned trumpetplayers from Europe, the United States, Mexico and Japan. Otto Sauter regularly invites international renowned artists to perform with „Ten of the Best“, like STING Guitarist Dominic Miller, Westernhagen guitarist  Markus wienstroer, James Last percussionist Pablo Escayola, Level 42 keyboarder Mike Lindup and many more.

Since many years, „Otto Sauter &  Ten of the Best“ regularly go successfully on concert tour in Europe, Japan, USA and Mexico.

The founding concept of the group is to fascinate the audience with refined cross-over in their concerts all over the world, by playing extraordinary arrangements of classic, jazz and  pop music. The international renowned arrangers working for the ensemble, exactly know the special fields of all group members. Thanks to them, the ten trumpets never sound like a fanfare but like a whole orchestra. Some of them are Grammy award recipients and worked in Hollywood with stars like Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, The Commodores and Prince or in Germany with artists like Peter Herbolzheimer or Udo Jürgens and his Pepe Lienhard Band.

In August 2001 they had a very special highlight in their programme. They launched the inauguration of the new Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, with a fanfare especially composed for Europe’s most modern football stadium, in front of 70.000 spectators.

Highlight 2006 under the artistic direction of Otto Sauter was the „Playtime Live City Concert Tour“ the German music festival for the FIFA Football World Championship 2006TM under the patronage of Dr. Theo Zwanziger (Vice-President OC FIFA WM 2006). The Festival themed: „The music of the great football nations visiting Germany“, presented 16 concerts free of charge all over Germany in representative public places like the Semper Opera Dresden, the Wartburg, the Loreley or the Marketsquare in the Händel-City Halle. At the request of the FIFA the ensemble performed with 11 trumpets, like a football team, playing together with the symphony orchestras of the concert cities, like the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Trier, the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic and the Staatskapelle Halle.

During the Richard Wagner year 2013, Otto Sauter presented their Richard Wagner Project, taking the music of the famous German composer on an adventurous journey around the world. International music styles and renowned musicians from Cuba, New York, Spain and Brazil are melting in this outstanding and fascinating programm in exceptional event concerts with the Operas of Richard Wagner.
